My First Open Source Contribution to the Frappe Framework

Alhamdulillah! I’m excited to share a small but meaningful milestone in my journey as a developer — my first Pull Request has been merged into the Frappe Framework.

The Contribution

The fix addressed an issue where currency precision was being ignored in System Settings, causing values to lose their expected decimal formatting instead of using the configured precision. The PR, “fix: handle currency precision = 0 in System Settings”, was merged into frappe/frappe’s develop branch.

Why It Matters

As a Frappe/ERPNext Developer at Invento Software Limited, contributing back to the framework I work with every day feels especially rewarding. It’s one thing to build on top of open-source software — it’s another to give something back to the community behind it.

A heartfelt thank you to Bowrna Prabhakaran and Ejaaz Khan for reviewing, addressing, and guiding me through the PR process. Their feedback made this first contribution a genuinely valuable learning experience.

What’s Next

This is just the beginning. I’m looking forward to learning more, contributing more, and becoming a more active part of the Frappe open-source community.
